Sarkin Arewa (King of the North)

Is an Ode to the Prehistoric Hausa culture located in the Northern part of Nigeria. Asociety which legends describe as matrilineal. The reign of Queen Daura who’s marriage and children formed the Hausa states is proof of this.

A study of the Nok arts also suggests an opulent lifestyle of this era by their jewelry and hairstyles.

We were inspired by the distinct eyes of the Nok terra-cotta, it’s burnt orange clay colour, the desert skies during the day and night, desert shrubs and brightly coloured turbans of the Northern Sarkis.
